When Joris Klompé was sworn in as a lawyer in 2000, he had had an active career in sailing charter, inland and coastal shipping. In addition to his law degree, he has a sailing license and the diplomas for large sailing ships and small commercial shipping.

After having worked for a number of years at offices in Amsterdam and Hilversum, Joris settled in Loosdrecht in 2009, where he has been practising under the current firm name Scheepsrecht Advocaten since 2011.

Joris advises and litigates in a wide variety of jurisdictions, in addition to general contract law, for example also in insurance law, employment law, tenancy law and copyright law. Regular clients are small and medium-sized businesses in the professional and pleasure cruising industry, but private boat owners are also at the right address with Joris.

In his spare time Joris is a keen sailor. In short, someone who understands what you’re talking about, even when it comes to more nautical-technical ship matters.
